Basuki Regretted PT JM’s Advertisement on TV

Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnmana admitted that he is worried if PT Jakarta Monorail (JM) would act deceitfully related to the company’s demand to own monorail properties for 80 percent. He also regretted PT JM’s advertisement on television which saying that Jakarta needs monorail.

Their advertisement on television only said that Jakarta is jammed and needs monorail. Even my grandma knows it

“They (PT JM) are also reluctant to agree on the agreement that if the monorail project hampered, the properties must be handed over to Jakarta Provincial Government to be seized,” he stated, Wednesday (5/14).

According to Basuki, the properties owned by PT JM are a 200-hectare wide depot in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, and the construction of commercial areas in every monorail station.

Monorail Construction also Hampered by Land Availability

“Don’t let that if the monorail project hampered, they can still say goodbye because they already got 80 percent of their property rights. That is something they don’t want until now but never say it publicly. That’s why we recorded the meetings with them, so (public) can see it on Youtube,” he explained.

Regarding PT JM advertisement, Basuki regretted it. According to him, PT JM can only carry about 150,000 passengers per day.

Their advertisement on television only said that Jakarta is jammed and needs monorail. Even my grandma knows it. I already knew it long ago since the era of (former Jakarta governor) Sutiyoso, that Jakarta needs monorail and all kinds of transportations. But, they (PT JM) never tell that they are unable to carry 250,000 passengers,” he uttered.

Basuki stressed that if PT JM cannot run this monorail project, it is better for PT MRT Jakarta to run it.

“PT MRT is better, if you (PT JM) could not run the monorail (project),” he asserted.
